How to Design Spaces for Wellbeing & Celebrating Pets at Life’s Biggest Moments

Designing Spaces That Heal & Celebrating Pets at Life’s Biggest Moments

This Week on The Maria Liberati Show

Some weeks on the show feel like a perfect blend of inspiration, creativity, and heart. This week brings all of that together with two guests who approach life from very different angles—yet share a common thread: the power of environment and companionship to shape our wellbeing

✨ Architect Kenneth Kennon: Designing Rooms That Make You Feel

Architect Kenneth Kennon joins us to explore a topic that is becoming increasingly essential in both residential and hospitality design—creating spaces that enhance wellbeing.

Kennon believes a room should be more than functional. It should be an experience. He shares how thoughtful choices—light, texture, proportion, flow, and even scent—can transform a room into a sanctuary. Whether he’s designing a private home or a luxury resort, his goal is the same: to create spaces that help people breathe easier, feel calmer, and connect more deeply with themselves and others.

Some highlights from our conversation:

  • Why wellness architecture is no longer a trend but a necessity
  • How resorts are shifting toward “experiential rooms” that tell a story
  • The subtle design details that instantly change how a space makes you feel
  • How you can bring wellbeing‑focused design into your own home

Kennon’s approach reminds us that the spaces we inhabit every day can either drain us or restore us—and we have more control over that than we think.

🐾 Yvonne Wonder: The Rising Trend of Dogs in Weddings

Our second guest, Yvonne Wonder, brings joy, humor, and a whole lot of heart to the show. As the owner of a thriving pet‑sitting and pet‑care service, she has seen firsthand how deeply people want their pets included in life’s biggest celebrations—especially weddings.

Yvonne shares the growing trend of couples inviting their dogs to play meaningful roles in their ceremonies:

  • Ring bearers
  • Flower pups
  • “Dog of Honor”
  • Reception greeters
  • Photo‑session stars

She also talks about the logistics behind making it all run smoothly—from pet‑friendly venues to calming routines, wardrobe choices, and the importance of having a dedicated pet handler so the couple can enjoy their day stress‑free.

Her stories are sweet, funny, and touching—proof that pets truly are family.

🍋 This Week’s Recipe: Lemon & Olive Oil Wellness Cake

A simple, bright, Mediterranean‑inspired cake that pairs beautifully with the theme of wellbeing.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all‑purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup extra‑virgin olive oil
  • ½ cup milk
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8‑inch cake pan.
    2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    3. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and creamy.
    4. Add olive oil, milk, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix well.
    5. Slowly fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
    6. Pour into the pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
    7. Cool, slice, and enjoy with tea—or serve as a light dessert after dinner.

This cake is fragrant, uplifting, and wonderfully simple… just like a well‑designed room or a joyful moment shared with a beloved pet.
